Cadillac's Formula 1 Team has historically had a formidable presence on the auto racing scene. Now, the team is stronger than ever with the introduction of a new team member. Cadillac's Formula 1 Team now welcomes the arrival of Colton Herta, who has won the NTT INDYCAR SERIES almost 10 times. Herta is joining the team as a Test Driver in preparation for the 2026 racing season.
Cadillac Formula 1 Team's New Acquisition
The partnership of Colton Herta with the Cadillac Formula 1 Team brings new opportunities for both the Cadillac team and Herta. For Herta, joining Cadillac's team means a triumphant return to European racing. In the past, Herta has earned top spots on the European race circuit, and he hopes to continue that streak by joining Cadillac's team in the 2026 racing season. Herta is also an experienced race car driver who started racing on the European circuit in 2015. Just two years after launching his European race car driving career, Herta earned six podium finishes, five pole positions, and four victories in the Euroformula Open Championship. In addition to the Championship, Herta has competed in several prominent European racing events, including multiple British F5 events. He managed a Brands Hatch victory and three podium finishes in those events. After launching his European racing career, Herta returned to compete in the US in 2017.
While his accomplishments in Europe are impressive, Herta has enjoyed just as much success on the US racing scene. Herta has managed nine wins, led over 1,000 laps, and acquired 16 pole positions in less than eight INDYCAR racing seasons. He was also named the youngest driver to win an INDYCAR SERIES pole position and an INDYCAR SERIES race. Herta has also secured several IMSA Weathertech Sportscar Championship wins for his class at the Rolex 24 championships at Daytona in the 2019 and 2022 racing seasons.
